THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: THE ART OF PURSUING WHAT MATTERS MOST. (Part 1) If we don’t discover what matters most we will end up wasting our lives and the precious time God has given us. WE ONLY HAVE TIME TO DO WHAT GOD HAS CALLED US TO DO, we don’t have time to waste. God’s will has boundaries. We simply can’t do all and everything we want. We have to narrow the playing field of our lives. FREE?…YES!…but that doesn’t mean we are governed by self will and we can do as we please. Jesus sets the example. [Matthew 26:39] “He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, NOT AS I WILL, but as YOU WILL.” Jesus knew what mattered most at that moment, the cross, His death as a sacrifice for our sins…and then the resurrection that was to come. Sometimes what matters most is painful, hard and difficult and requires a high level of sacrifice. There are only a few things in life we can apply ourselves to. The Apostle Paul referred to it in Philippians 3 as ‘..this ONE THING I do…’. That ‘one thing’ has a few components that involve and include our faith in Jesus Christ, the pursuit of His will for our lives, loving and serving the people around us including our families and brethren. And, of course, reaching the lost. Your challenge is to discover for yourself what matters most and then give yourself to that end. Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by the frivolous. Get the mind of God, find out what is pleasing to Him and give yourself do that. All of us have to learn to master THE ART OF PURSUING WHAT MATTERS MOST.
