THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: DEALING WITH THE STRUGGLES OF LIFE. You all already know, LIFE HAS STRUGGLES. It’s just the way things are. We live in a sinful and cursed world. From the moment man sinned, life became tough, hard and challenging. It’s an uphill battle, it’s swimming against the tide, it’s carrying heavy burdens as we march through life’s journey. We all have our own struggles that are unique to us and some we may share together with others. Some of the burdens we carry are unnecessary and we can do something about them. We can get them off our shoulders once and for all. [Hebrews 12:1] “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…” We still have to run the race, but we can do it with a lighter load if we will deal with the sin issue in our lives. Repentance makes things better and easier, still a struggle but a burden has been lifted that we no longer have to carry. There are also going to be struggles because of obedience to God and doing right. Making a stand for God is not always the path of least resistance. It can introduce us to a whole new set of struggles, ones God will help us with but they are there nevertheless. No better example than Jesus Himself. Love and obedience to His Heavenly Father made the cross a necessity and what a struggle it was. So much, that He momentarily wished for an escape because the struggle was so great. [Matthew 26:39] “Jesus went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” However, He persevered and struggled on ALL THE WAY TO THE CROSS. I think that’s an appropriate challenge for all of us. We all have our own unique challenges, we all have our crosses to bear. The answer is not always to escape the struggle but to find God’s grace, strength and help in the midst of it. [Hebrews 4:16] “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Right now you’re DEALING WITH THE STRUGGLES OF LIFE. Get over the ones you can through repentance and the rest that we must walk through seek out God for His strength and help.
