THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: DOWN BUT NEVER OUT, THAT SHOULD DESCRIBE MOST OF US SOME OF THE TIME. We’re UP, we’re DOWN…THAT’S LIFE! You can’t be up all the time and you don’t have to be down all the time but you have to be able to handle each in it’s place. Some people don’t handle UP very well and we handle DOWN even worse. So, lets get a grip on this, because it’s a reality of life, you have to learn to navigate through the up’s and down’s. [Philippians 4:11-13] “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be CONTENT: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The Apostle Paul had a lot of up’s and down’s…and look at what he LEARNED. That’s what he said, “…for I have LEARNED…’. Contentment is never automatic, it’s is a LEARNED VIRTUE. We spend so much of our time dis-satisfied, dis-contented and unhappy with our situation. If that is your disposition the fact is, you’ll never be satisfied. Contentment simply means we can accept and have a measure of satisfaction no matter is going on around us…even if, it’s painful, hard, challenging and difficult. What he’s saying is I’VE LEARNED TO PROCESS THE UP’S OF LIFE AND THE DOWN’S. The fact is that Christ is bigger than any hardship, struggle, obstacle or giant we may be facing. That’s why he wrote; ‘I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME’. Sometimes you have to wrestle truth into your situation because life doesn’t always make sense. This is what the Apostle Paul is doing. He had to discover and rediscover the truth the JESUS IS REAL! That never changes no matter what I’m going through. NO PROBLEM IS WORTH BACKSLIDING OVER and the fact is our frustrations should not be what ultimately defines us. JESUS DEFINES WHO WE ARE…and through all the up’s and down’s of life JESUS CHRIST IS STILL LORD OF ALL. [Romans 8:37-39] “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” DOWN BUT NEVER OUT, THAT SHOULD DESCRIBE ALL OF US SOME OF THE TIME.
