THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: HIP REPLACEMENT, MARVEL, MIRACLE OR BOTH? As you know we discovered this week that Renee has been enduring a broken hip for about a month. She is right now in surgery getting a replacement. After talking to the doctor and nurses this is truly a marvel of modern ingenuity and genius. It’s not a miracle in the traditional sense that we think of, the kind of miracles that Jesus performed on the sick, diseased and infirm. Those where supernatural, outside the boundaries of the laws of nature, miracles. Recovering of sight and hearing for the blind and deaf, healing the lame and of course raising the dead. All of which were a regular feature of Jesus’s ministry. [Luke 6:17,19] “And Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place with a crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases…And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.” We pray and have faith for such miracles and they still occur today. We have confidence because of; [Hebrews 13:8] “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” However there is a level of healing in the hands of trained doctors, physicians and surgeons. It is a marvel to me the skill of a surgeon to mend a damaged heart, perform brain surgery that saves someone’s life and returns them to normal. These are incredible people with a skill that I believe God gave them. Not everyone can do what they do, nor does everyone want to. God’s puts it in the heart of some to fulfill their life’s purpose by contributing to the health and wellbeing of others. The technology involved, for example, a hip replacement is amazing. Someone, through the creative genius that God has given everyone, came up with a way to replace a hip with synthetic materials so that the recipient can return to normal and sometimes better than normal. A DOCTER CAN BE THE METHOD GOD USES FOR HEALING. We should be grateful for all those who serve in the healing and wellbeing of others. It takes a special type of person and gifting. Renee’s hip replacement is truly a marvel but it is also a miracle. The miracle of the human body to recover and heal. Even the pain is God’s way of locating where the problem lies that needs attention. So, I am grateful today for God’s provision for the healing and recovery of Renee’s broken hip. HIP REPLACEMENT IS BOTH A MARVEL AND A MIRACLE.
