THOUGHT FOR THE DAY. I’M WORKING AT KEEPING THE OLD…NEW. Jesus used the term ‘Born-Again in referring to what happens to a person at the point of their conversion. An old sinner…becomes a newborn babe in Christ. [2 Corinthians 5:17] “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”. The old has become new. The old, doesn’t have to get old and stay old. I’ve been married 45 years. An old marriage? Not even. Love and forgiveness keeps things new. Bitterness and un-forgiveness makes things wear out before their time. Marriages become old because we don’t work at keeping them new. Your relationship with Christ…how ever many years old it may be (or months or days) never needs to get old if you work on keeping it new. Your prayer life, talking to and communicating with God, reading His word, meditating on His truth, establishing and re-establishing obedience every day, all keep things new in your walk with God. Physical objects like homes, cars, tools etc. all wear out much faster if we don’t take care of them, in other words, YOU HAVE TO WORK AT KEEPING EVERYTHING MAINTAINED IN YOUR LIFE. That effort enhances the quality of the life you live and you are better positioned to be a blessing to others. Maybe there are some things that need maintenance in your life, maybe there are areas of your marriage, your relationship with others, your ministry and your relationship with God that need some work to make them new again. GET BUSY, IT’S AN INVESTMENT WORTH MAKING. I’M WORKING AT KEEPING THE OLD…NEW!
