THOUGHT FOR THE DAY. I’VE HAD A HARD WEEK! BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Someone told me that recently and it got me to thinking about a few things. Having a hard time can certainly be time sensitive. We can have a hard moment, minute, hour, day…or as my friend said, the hard time we’re having can last a week or more. Well, let’s face it, HAVING A HARD TIME IS PART OF LIFE. You could be having a hard time right now, it may be brief or perhaps you’re in a hard season of your life. The Lord told Adam, because of his sin, you’re going to have a hard time. [Genesis 3:17-19] “Then to Adam He said…“Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” That’s the harsh reality of the consequences of sin. WE’VE ALL HAD A HARD TIME BECAUSE OF IT. Of course, when the sin issue is dealt with, the hard times don’t come to an end. All of us are challenged with all kinds of problems, frustrations and the very normal seasons of life that contain hardship, sadness and sometimes grief. WE CAN HAVE A HARD TIME PRECISELY BECAUSE WE ARE OBEYING GOD AND DOING RIGHT. Hence the plight of the Apostle Paul; [2 Corinthians 4:8-9,16] “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed…Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” There’s an interesting combination…a hard time contrasted with the help of God’s Grace in the midst of it all. I think the point to make is that with Jesus, we never go through a hard time alone. So, if perchance, you’re going through a hard time right now or even a hard season, take heart, Jesus is with you at all times and there is strength available to even flourish in the hard times of life. I’VE HAD A HARD WEEK. BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?…Maybe I’ve provided you with a starting point to gain or re-gain the victory in the midst of it all.
