THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: PREPARING FOR WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS. We of course don’t know what the future holds…at least not all of it, many details are yet to be written and experienced. Whatever it holds we have to be ready. The past has already been lived, the present is being lived right now and in the present we do our best to live up to God’s expectations for our lives. It’s the future that remains to be lived. The Word of God tells us how to prepare for each day and beyond. Live right, obey God…seek Him daily and pour your whole heart into pursuing His will. All that is obvious, but still it’s something we have to focus on and apply ourselves toward. What captured my attention to write about this was re-discovering the fact that GOD HAS PREPARED A FUTURE FOR US. [1 Corinthians 2:9] “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which GOD HAS PREPARED for those who love Him.” That describes something that is very good…it has to be, God Himself established it for us before the world began. The word ‘prepared’ is drawn from the oriental custom of sending on before kings on their journeys persons to level the roads and make them passable. That’s what God has done, He goes before us. He is already in our future. We should all anticipate with great expectation what God has for each of us. The one additional key to being ready for what God has is also in the above verse…’…FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM’. That is the tallest of orders. It’s easy to say you love God and are putting Him first…it’s another matter to do it. I think that should be examined today: [Mark 12:30] “And you shall love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, with ALL your soul, with ALL your mind, and with ALL your strength…”. This may require you making some adjustments in how your going about living for God. THAT IS HOW YOU PREPARE FOR WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS.
