THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: TAKE A CHANCE, WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE? That’s the question we are all faced with when it comes to living for Jesus, exercising faith and seeking to advance the will of God in our lives. I thought of Peter, stepping out of the boat and walking on water. It came out of a very simple request combined with a willingness. [Matthew 14:28-29] “And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So Jesus said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, HE WALKED ON WATER TO GO TO JESUS.” The question for you to consider…ARE YOU ASKING (Lord what do you want me to do?) AND, ARE YOU WILLING? Jesus is constantly trying to stretch us and enlarge our faith…it is only when we are ASKING and WILLING that he can to great things in our lives. For Peter, it wasn’t about walking on water…it was about faith. Was he going to be able to believe God at a level in the future that would facilitate the extraordinary things that God had called him to do? Walking on water doesn’t save the lost, but it prepared him to believe what Jesus taught: [Mark 9:23] “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO HIM WHO BELIEVES.” When God asks and challenges you to go out on a limb…He’s not trying to hurt you but to extend Himself through your life. This is against our very nature, we like to play it safe and stick with what we are comfortable with, what we know we can do….well, THE REALITY IS, THAT IS NOT FAITH. Faith is risk, faith is doing what you have never done before, faith is doing what you know to be impossible in your own ability. Faith is trust, trusting that no matter what God asks of you He has everything under control and blessing will follow. So this week, TAKE A CHANCE, WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE?!
