THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU WANT TO BE IDENTIFIED AS A FOOL. (Part 3) Refusing correction makes you a fool. This isn’t name calling. This is what God’s Word says we are and are being when we are stubborn and won’t listen. [Proverbs 15:5] “A fool despises his father’s instruction, But he who receives correction is prudent.” I like the Amplified Translation; “A [flippant, arrogant] fool rejects his father’s instruction and correction, But he who [is willing to learn and] regards and keeps in mind a reprimand ACQUIRES GOOD SENSE.” There are those that God has placed around us for the benefit of bringing correction. Father’s, pastor’s, teacher’s, civil servants like police officers and judges, leaders in the church and those who have a level of spiritual maturity who may have a word of wisdom for us. LEARN TO LISTEN, THEN YOU WON’T BE A FOOL. I think a lot of the trouble we find ourselves in is rooted right here. Have you ever heard the term ‘A fools errand’…as in something we are on? That is what Proverbs describes. [Proverbs 14:12] “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” Correction is what keeps us from being on a fools errand. The ultimate fools errand being a life wasted with self-will, never listening and allowing a clear sounding word of instruction to properly guide us. Listen for that voice today. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU WANT TO BE IDENTIFIED AS A FOOL… THE CONSEQUENCES ARE WAY TOO SERIOUS!
