THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: TODAY IS A GOOD TIME TO TALK ABOUT SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND FRUITFULNESS IN YOUR LIFE. (Part 2) Being UNFRUITFUL is unacceptable…completely and absolutely unacceptable. You would not work over, take care of and invest in an orchard of apple trees if they weren’t producing apples. It would be a waste of your time. YOU EXPECT A RETURN ON YOUR LABOR AND INVESTMENT. God has the same expectation for everyone of us. Jesus is pretty serious about this and He tells us so in the following parable. [Luke 13:6-9] “He also spoke this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.” So, WHERE IN YOUR LIFE ARE YOU BEARING FRUIT? That’s the question that we are considering. Bearing fruit and being fruitful means that we are reproducing. How about the character of God, the virtue of Jesus Christ…is that being reproduce in your life day by day? More of Him and less of us. What about what you impart to others? Is there anything of God that is flowing out of your life into others? That’s another way that we bear fruit. We don’t just live for ourselves…We live to reproduce what God is doing in our lives into those around us. Then of course there is the ever important task of reaching those that are lost. You can’t hope to do that without being a witness for Jesus Christ and telling others about their need for salvation. We can’t control how someone will respond, but we can plant the seed. After all, that’s how we got saved, someone planted a seed, told us about Jesus and that seed grew unto our salvation. This is a very broad subject. Take time to ask yourself the above questions. TODAY IS A GOOD TIME TO TALK ABOUT SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND FRUITFULNESS IN YOUR LIFE.
