THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: WE NEED TO EXPERIENCE SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY. Not everything gets old and worn out and stays that way. [Lamentations 3:22-23] “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are NEW EVERY MORNING; Great is Your faithfulness.” This is a spiritual expression of what happens in nature. Every day is new, every new day begins with a new dawn, one we have never seen or experienced before. The biological natural world produces the new. An old tree still produces seed so that new life can begin again. Every day provides an opportunity for new challenges and experiences. WE NEED THE NEW IN LIFE. There is certainly value in things that are old, that have endured over time and are well worn. Life is a mix and combination of new and old. Families have grandparents…great-grandparents and newborns. This is a wonderful feature to life and it has expression in our spiritual life. That’s what the above scripture is about…”…HIS COMPASSIONS FAIL NOT, THEY ARE NEW EVERY MORNING…”. And they truly are…or at least can be. That’s where your contribution comes in. Some people, all they have is the same old, same old. You can allow life to become and be only about things that are old and worn out. You have to work, along with God at keeping things fresh and new in your life. It begins with having a positive attitude born of faith in Jesus Christ. Faith keeps things new. Faith opens the door to seeing the opportunities we have daily for the new to blossom. By faith Abraham saw a new opportunity one day in his relationship with God. [Genesis 12:1-2] “Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.” IT WAS TIME FOR SOMETHING NEW TO HAPPEN IN HIS LIFE. It required faith, confidence in God’s direction for his life and a willingness to obey God in what was very challenging circumstance. Abraham began something new in his life. That’s the opportunity we have in Christ daily. Don’t allow life to be reduced to the same old same old. WE NEED TO EXPERIENCE SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY!
