THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: WE WERE CREATED TO WORSHIP AND WE WILL WORSHIP SOMEONE OR SOMETHING. This is a fact of life and in most cases it has nothing to do with religion. Look at how people behave at sporting events and concerts, it’s nothing short of worship. Consider what people will spend money on…whatever we prioritize with our money beyond the necessary and fulfilling our responsibilities, can be a form of worship. People bow in adoration before all kinds of idols today. Entertainment has become just that. It has morphed form an innocent diversion to an outright addiction that projects violence, sex and materialism to an inordinate degree and people hunger for more and more. Today, of course, it has become the worship of self. This is the culture of the ‘selfie’, we have become addicted to our image on social media and this generation is obsessed with ‘likes’, anonymous connections and the notoriety that comes with the emphases on self. ALL OF THIS EXPRESSES THE PRESENCE OF A HUGE VACUUM INSIDE THE HUMAN HEART. Yes, we were create to worship and we will worship someone or something but if the emphasis of our worship is anything other than the worship of God it is going to lead to ruin. My life was made whole when I repented of my sins, received Jesus Christ as my Savior…and began to worship the true and living God. We sing, we praise, we glorify….we seek Him first above all else. Anything else is counterfeit worship and ultimately it will lead to emptiness and spiritual bankruptcy. WE WERE MADE TO WORSHIP THE LIVING GOD. To love and serve Him supremely and to be obsessed the reality of His presence in our lives and discovering the will of God for ourselves. In order for us to be whole, complete, happy and satisfied we need to put JESUS FIRST. [Matthew 6:33] “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…”. When we do that the result is a life of purpose, having discovered the reason why we were created…TO LIVE A LIFE OF WORSHIP. This is the challenge of the Psalmist…He’s inviting us! [Psalms 95:6-7] “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice: For I proclaim the name of the Lord: Ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.” This is WORSHIP that leads to REVELATION. When you genuinely praise God first and foremost in your life you get a fresh revelation of His greatness that is renewed every time we worship Him. WE WERE CREATED TO WORSHIP AND WE WILL WORSHIP SOMEONE OR SOMETHING. Why not take time right now to renew or reinforce your commitment to be a worshiper of the true and living God. [Mark 12:30] “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.”
